How do I reconcile these 2 contradictory ideas?

I have obsessive-compulsive disorder , and am trying to use stoicism to deal with my ruminations. In CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) which has its roots in stoicism) you are taught that 'you are not your thoughts'.

However in Marcus Aurelius 'Meditations' there is several quotes stating that 'you are what you think' or 'your soul takes on the color of your thoughts'.

These seem to be contradictory and I would greatly appreciate if someone could explain or clear this up for me.
